NYCA delegates meets Environment Minister, Ganesh Shah

Members of Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA), meet with Er. Ganesh Shah, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology (MoEST) on 20th October at his office Simhadurbar. The discussion mainly focused about the role of Nepalese Youth to take action on Climate change. The minister appreciated the
enthusiasm, work and spirit of youth for such noble causes. He assured NYCA team to help the way he could. He is also ready to provide Electric Vehicle of MoEST for noble causes in any official hours. Joint Secretary Mr. Pursuttam Khanal and under secretary Mr. Batu Krishna Uprety of MoEST were also in the meeting.
According to him “rich created waste & poor cut down the trees” both has impact on the environment anyway. The minister emphasized to target such awareness and action event for well-off who always ignore about the impacts as they are well known. Besides this program/activities must also focused at grass root level.
The minister was quit unhappy about centralization of program and events in Kathmandu only. He said, “Education about Climate Change is at the Valley but the impact is on the Himalayan Region and country side” He emphasized decentralizing awareness program.
After the meeting, Prasant Khanal, coordinator of Communication and information unit NYCA said, “We find the minister very enthusiastic, dedicated and realistic to solve climate and environmental crisis as well as his view is clearer regarding clean, green and better future of Nepal”. Nisha Shrestha of NYCA added that the minister shows his interest to support the NYCA upcoming event, Nepalese Youth Summit on Climate Change”
