Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA) in support with Clean Energy Nepal (CEN), Clean Air Network Nepal (CANN) and Shree Eco Visionary (SEV) visited three additional Constituent Assembly members (CA members) on 16th November, 2008. This is an ongoing door to door awareness campaign called “Ghar Dailo Abhiyan” on climate change.
The objective of the program is to aware the CA members on climate change so that the issues of Climate Change will be addressed in the constitution.
CA Member, Mr Jhakku Prasad Subedi stressed on political crisis. According to him, unless the country attempts political stability, environmental crisis will have less importance. At this point, NYCA team urged him to take action immediately rather than to wait for severe climate crisis.
In the program, Mr. Manjeet Dhakal and Mr. Anil Rimal of NYCA informed him about the global and local impacts of climate change. NYCA team suggested him to address climate change and sense of urgency to reduce poverty in Nepal. He appreciated the spirit of youth on such noble activities.
Likewise, the team visited other two CA Members, Hem Shrestha and Shiv Narayan Uraau. The CA members are very positive towards such initiative on issues of climate change and related environmental concern. They committed to address issues of climate change in Constitution Assembly.
The CA members took a short ride on “Pollution Free Vehicle”. For the commitment CA Members also signed the banner entitled “I am committed to raise the issues of climate change in CA.”
