Gearing up for the South Asian youth Summit on Climate Change

Posted by NYCA Blogger on August 28, 2009

27th August, 2009 Kathmandu

Here it comes, the much awaited South Asian Youth Summit on Climate Change – the summit with Youth on its crux. Yesterday we had a sharing and discussion with the selected participants from Nepal for south Asian youth summit on Climate change. Participants shared their experience and knowledge on climate change and they were very enthusiastic and prepared for September 3. Discussion paced with lively debate on the basics of climate change and the climate change timeline and the conference of the parties and Bali Action plan. Further Group discussion was carried out in different themes namely agriculture and food insecurity, Mountain and glacial lakes, water and water induced disaster, carbon Market, Trade and climate Change, Forest and Bio- diversity. Pre – draft was drawn from the discussion. The draft drawn from the sharing will help to work out the south Asian youth vision. Participants were really enthusiastic to represent the strong youth voice from the region in the cop-15 Copenhagen to address the regional issue. Similar sharing and discussion will be carried out by our counterparts prior to SAYSoCC in their countries.
